Amit and Dulal, two brothers, lost their lives when they came from India to sell land in Charfasan, Bhola. The land buyers deliberately killed the two brothers and then burned the headless body and destroyed the signs. Two weeks ago, police recovered the burnt body of two brothers from Aslampur in Charfasan, but their name and identity remained unknown. But within a short time of the investigation, the information of the shocking twin murders came out. Two half-decomposed skulls and sharp weapons used in the murder were recovered from the toilet safety tank.
Police said, on charges of involvement in the murder. Md. Bellal, his father-in-law Abu Majhi and brother Kashem were arrested by the police on Friday and handed over to the court.
Police further said that two headless burnt bodies were recovered from Jamal Bhuiyan’s abandoned garden in Aslampur on April 8. The police filed a murder case with the Charfasan police station accusing the unidentified persons. While investigating the case, shocking information came to the hands of the police. Amit Sarkar (Tapan) and Dulal Sarkar, a one-time resident of Charfasan Municipality and now living in India, sold 36 decimal of their land for Tk 2.4 million to near Bellalgang. They took an advance deposit of Tk 3 lakh while finalizing the bargain. For the remaining Tk 2.1 million, the buyer of the land and his two accomplices killed them on April 8. After the killing, they burned the bodies to destroy the signs.
District Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser said the accused had identified the bodies as Amit Sarkar (Tapan) (55) and Dulal Sarkar (40), sons of late Upendra Sarkar, a resident of Ward 3 of the municipalities. The main planner of the murder of the police said. Bellal, Belal’s father-in-law Abu Majhi and brother Kashem have been arrested.
Citing information provided by the arrestees, he said the accused took the two brothers to Jamal Bhuiyan’s abandoned garden near Sundari Khal in Aslampur Union at 9:30 pm on the day of the incident and killed them by suffocation. Later, in the middle of the night, cut off their head and burned their body. After the murder, the head was thrown into the septic tank of Mahibullah’s toilet on the north side of the scene.
According to Superintendent of Police Mohammad Kaiser, on the basis of information provided by the arrestees, police recovered two half-decomposed skulls from the septic tank of Mahibullah’s house in Ward 8 of Aslampur Union on Thursday afternoon. Two burnt bodies were recovered from the area two weeks ago. A domestic sharp weapon (chisel) used in the murder was recovered from Sundari canal adjacent to the spot.
Charfasan police OC, Monir Hossain Miah said, the three accused have been handed over to the court. The court sent the accused to jail after taking their statements.
It may be mentioned that on April 8 at noon, local farmer Mostafiz went to Jamal Bhuiyan’s garden near Sundari Bridge in Aslampur to ride a goat and saw the burnt body and informed the police. Police later recovered the two bodies and sent them to the morgue for autopsy.
